Resource Critique Activity

RESOURCE CRITIQUE- "Feeling the Fall" Lesson Plan http://www.cpalms.org/Public/PreviewResourceLesson/Preview/47388  ELA standard LAFS.1.W.2.6 Things I liked : I loved that this lesson addresses all styles of learning. Students who are more visual learners, are able to read the scripts they will present in Reader's Theater while students who are more auditory not only hear the 'fall song' but also audibly hear other students perform. Day 3 of the lesson is perfect for kinesthetic learners, they are able to apply what they have read and heard in the classroom and go outside and use their senses to really understand what the season fall is.  Also, I really like how students work in groups throughout the lesson. Early elementary is so important for the development of social and interactive skills. I think it's great that each student is assigned a specific role, but also the class gets to work together as a whole. Early on in the lesson, students must work...

As of now, I feel most prepared to teach students the ELA technology standard W/WHST.6 "Use Technology". This standard has students use different forms of technology, including the Internet to produce and publish writing, as well as collaborate with peers. I feel most educated in this because I am very familiar with many different media platforms that can be used in schools such as Word, PowerPoint, Prezi, and many other ways information is presented. I also am certified in some of these applications, so I can aid students learning how to produce and present writings and information through technology. Since I really want to teach younger grades, I feel most confident in helping them with this standard, because at an early age social interaction, respect for peers, and collaboration are all big concepts that must be emphasized. I feel best prepared to teach these children to not only be good citizens in the classroom but also great digital citizens so they can have success...

Personally, throughout my education growing up, Microsoft Word was probably the most used software and form of educational technology used in the classroom. As a student, I wrote and revised countless essays throughout my middle and high school years using the different editing, spacing and citations tools available in the software. As students we also used word for certain projects that required a physical handout to be made, creating a newspaper article, or forming graphic organizers to better understand a concept. Microsoft Word is also very used on the teachers end of things. This software allows for quizzes, worksheets, rubrics and many other documents to easily be made. Word also allowed for creative layouts, themes, and graphics to be used that can better engage students. Teachers can also use word as a great source of communication, there are many features that allow teachers to create flyers, sign up sheets, in case students or parents don't have or use tech...

The advancement of technology has tremendously impacted the classrooms of today, not only for students but also teachers. Teachers can use technology to make administrative tasks like grading and classroom management much more effective. Using grading softwares such as Edsby, Engrade, etc. teachers can easily enter grades and make them readily available for students and their families. By integrating technology into the presentation of information, teachers are able to better engage students and adapt to the many different learning, cognitive and intelligence styles they may encounter. By using programs like Photostory, museum box, Prezi and wordle during a lecture, students who are more visual will have a better cognitive process when they are able to see the lessons being taught, whereas auditory learners will benefit from the actual lecture and videos incorporated into the presentation. Communication with parents is crucial in the classroom in order for success, while f...
