     Personally, throughout my education growing up, Microsoft Word was probably the most used software and form of educational technology used in the classroom. As a student, I wrote and revised countless essays throughout my middle and high school years using the different editing, spacing and citations tools available in the software. As students we also used word for certain projects that required a physical handout to be made, creating a newspaper article, or forming graphic organizers to better understand a concept. Microsoft Word is also very used on the teachers end of things. This software allows for quizzes, worksheets, rubrics and many other documents to easily be made. Word also allowed for creative layouts, themes, and graphics to be used that can better engage students. ILP "Design"- Prezi

As part of my Independent Learning Project I designed a prezi that would go along with a 1st grade writing workshop on building stories! A prezi is a presentation software that shows the peoject as a whole to create an image ( a book for this project) as you go through the presentation you zoom into to different topics and subtopics. I really enjoyed getting to logically place the activities in order so kids would best understand the elements needed to create an interesting story. My presentation begins by getting kids to think of their favorite story and what it has that makes it their favorite this section ends with a video explaining the different parts of a story such as characters, setting, plot and how to separate beginning middle and end. The next topic enforces the topics explained in the video by giving definitions and picture examples, followed by a short minon movie where students are prompted to pull out the elements of the story.          As an elementary school teacher, there is so much more things to keep up with in the classroom other than just grades. Excel is the perfect tool to keep track of not only grades but attendance, transportation,volunteer information, parent contacts, events and many other records teachers need to keep up with. Having a workbook with multiple sheets in it is a great way to be able to organize information that is easy to find and access. Surveys are another great tool allowing students to have their input that is anonymous, which may encourage students to be more willing to participate and be honest. Qualtrics is a great service tool because of how easy it is to create as well as access results.       Seeing other student's blogs throughout the semester has been a great way to see all of the amazing things we can create with educational technology.
